Bullies of Dowen College Student, Sylvester Oromoni Granted 1 Million Naira Bail Each

In Yaba, Lagos state, a chief magistrate’s court has granted bail to five students of Dowen College who bullied Sylvester Oromoni after the police charged them with homicide and conspiracy.

The Lagos state police command charged the students with appearing in court because of the alleged murder of their fellow schoolmate, Sylvester Oromoni.

Earlier this month, The 12-year-old allegedly died because his schoolmates bullied him because he refused to join their cult group.

But the school authorities denied the allegations, saying that Sylvester Oromoni was injured when he played football.

The Lagos state police command investigated what caused the death of Sylvester Oromoni and arrested some of the schoolmates who bullied him before he died.

On the 9th of December, the police command arrested the five minors in their homes.

Chief magistrate Olatunbosun Adeola, who heard their bail application, granted them bail in the sum of N1m each.

The chief magistrate also ordered that the defendants also produce two sureties, each with the same amount of 1 million naira bail.

Olatunbosun Adeola said that one of each of the defendants’ sureties must be their parent, and the parent must swear an affidavit saying he would comply with the bail.

The magistrate also held the international passports of the students, saying they must submit the bail and affidavit to court, the prosecutors must verify their home address, and they must stay within 2 km of their residence at all times.
