In the capital of Abia state, Umuahia, a court ordered the Nigerian federal government to apologize to the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (Ipob), Nnamdi Kanu, the September 2017 invasion of his home.
The court also ordered the Federal government and the Nigeria Army to pay 1 billion naira to Nnamdi for invading his house in September 2017.
It was Justice Benson Anya of the Abia State High Court who gave the order for judgement he delivered for the fundamental human rights case that Nnamdi filed against the federal government, the Army and others.
This occurred at the same time that Nnamdi was defending himself in Abuja High Court against charges of treason and terrorism leveled by the Nigerian Federal Government.
Accusations which he had denied.
