In Abuja, the Federal High Court adjourned Nnamdi Kanu’s case to the 16th of February 2022 to consider the application to quash the charges against Nnamdi Kanu, which the defence filed.
The judge said the prosecution must serve the defense lawyer five days before the hearing.
This happened as the leader of the proscribed Independent People of Biafra (Ipob) did not plead not guilty to the amended charges which the Nigerian federal government of Nigeria charged against him.
Kanu pleaded not guilty when he appeared in court today to continue his trial.
As he pleaded not guilty, the prosecution said they were ready to proceed with the case and said they had two witnesses in court.
But the defence lawyer, Mike Ozekhome, said they filed an application to quash the charges against Nnamdi Kanu and they also filed an application for bail.

But the prosecution counsel said they just received the application this morning and they could not respond to it during the trial because the application must go on.
According to the defense lawyer, the application is for the court to throw away the charges for lack of merit and free the defendant.
The judge ruled that they should look at the defence application which sought to quash the charge before the trial would start.
Earlier on, the prosecution lawyer had defended the reason why Nnamdi Kanu chose to wear the same cloth as the one he wore in the last trial, and he said it was because he is a designer.
But the defense lawyer said it was not because he was a designer but because the clothes that they bought for him were not delivered to him on time and that was why he wore the same clothes.
The prosecution lawyer also added that they had bought new mattresses, pillows, and bedding for him.
We recall that Mike Ozekhome, Kanu’s lawyer, complained about some issues about the fundamental rights of Nnamdi Kanu, saying that they did not allow him as the lawyer to show him the charge sheet.
He also said that Nnamdi Kanu does not eat well, his room was bugged, and added that he has not changed his clothes since his detention.
Later, Justice Binta Nyako, who is the presiding judge of the high court, gave an order to DSS saying that they should try to change Kanu’s clothes before he appears in court today.
He also asked the DSS official to allow his lawyers to talk with him in court about the charges before they take him back to their custody.
