The kidnappers of the Paramount Ruler of Gindri in Mangu Local Government Area of Plateau State, Charles Mato, have ldemanded a 500 million naira ransom.
Today in Jos, officials from the Plateau Council of the Nigerian Union of Journalists’ Correspondents Chapel paid him a visit.
We recall that gunmen kidnapped Charles Mato at his home on the 14th of December, 2021.
Ibrahim Ali, who is also the General Officer Commanding (GOC), 3 Division, Nigerian Army, Rukuba, near Jos, said that his men have arrested suspects who are involved in the crime.
The abductors of the traditional ruler have called and demanded a ransom of N500 million to secure his release. We have arrested some suspects. They are in our custody.
“These are people we feel have knowledge of the incident. We have picked them up and they are being interrogated, “he said.
Ibrahim Ali said that his troops have been sent to the scene to search for the ruler to rescue him.
Ibrahim Ali further added that the rise in kidnappings in the country has become a problem, adding that the security agencies are on top of their game toward ending the menace.
“Kidnapping is one of the major problems in this country; it is increasing on a daily basis. You can be kidnapped by anybody, anytime and anywhere.”
“But we are working round the clock and have put modalities on the ground to end the menace” Ibrahim Ali said.
