All You Need To Know About Former Super Eagles Players’ Visit To Bola Tinubu

When Jay-jay Okocha, Kanu Nwankwo, Victor Ikpeba, Taribo West, and other ex-Super Eagles players paid a visit to Bola Tinubu, many Nigerians reacted.

The visit of the former Super Eagles footballers to Tinubu did provoke mixed reactions across Nigeria.

Now, one of those who paid visits to the politician did not come out to clear the matter.

Okocha, Kanu, Ikpeba, Taribo West and other ex-super eagles players and Kanu Heart Foundation on Saturday went to visit Bola Ahmed Tinubu in his Bourdillon home in Lagos

During the visit, They gave him an award, and on Sunday they played a novelty match in honour of the politician’s 70th birthday [on March 29].

Kanu Nwankwo, in a video posted on his Facebook page, defends his association with Bola Tinubu, recalling how the politician helped him 22 years ago.

“A lot of people are talking all the same, we are entitled to our opinions.”

“Of course, we have to talk. I am not a politician; I am a footballer and a proud one at that.

“I am a legend who knows what is good and what is not good.” Nwankwo Kanu said.

“22 years ago when Kanu Heart Foundation was looking for people to support and help us touch lives, we had only three governors and Ahmed Tinubu was among them.

“He gave us foundation money; he supported us and now he is already celebrating his 70th birthday, we have to be there to support him. We have a novelty game to play for him.”

Former Super Eagles players pay Tinubu a visit and give their endorsement for his 2023 race.

Kanu, Okocha etc were present. They also endorsed Yahaya Bello late last year.

Kanu, who had a heart operation after captaining the Super Eagles to Olympic victory in Atlanta in 1996, established a foundation to help people who suffer from heart disease.

The Super Eagles legend then called on Nigerians to have their permanent voters’ cards ahead of the 2023 elections in order to vote the right people into power.

All what Kanu Nwankwo said, however, was not how people saw it. Local reports said their visit was to discuss Tinubu’s presidential ambitions.

As we recall that In early January 2022, Tinubu formally informed President Muhari Buhari of his intention to contest the 2023 Nigeria presidential election.
