APC Governors Disagree Over 2023 Presidential Election.

Things appear to be falling apart for the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) as two governors reportedly fought over the 2023 Presidential ticket.  Celebrity and human rights activist Edrees Abdulkarim shared on his Instagram handle on Tuesday how two APC-factions split over the 2023 presidential ticket.

Factions loyal to the national leader of the APC Chief Bola Ahmed Tinubu are rooting for indirect primaries for the Presidential primaries. Chief Tinubu wants to have the presidential ticket of his party but some governors of the ruling party want Vice President Yemi Osinbajo to succeed Buhari.

Osinbajo is a loyal son of Chief Tinubu but forces within the APC want him to be president instead of Tinubu. The reasons for this are not clear but from all indications, Tinubu wants to be president of Nigeria.

The argument and fight between the two APC governors of Kogi and Kebbi were about whether the APC should adopt direct or indirect primary to select their presidential flag bearer. Most people consider direct primaries as the most transparent because the result is often obvious.

However, indirect primaries allow people to use their conscience while voting without fear of intimidation. This is because some political aspirants are very influential but less credible and supporters of the Vice President think that Tinubu may use his influence to dominate the primaries in the event of a direct primary.

It was reported that all the APC governors present in the meeting agreed on all issues except the type of primary that the party should adopt. Governor Atiku Bagudu of Kebbi described Alhaji Yahaya Bello of Kogi State as playing to the gallery to please his political godfather Chief Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

His utterances provoked the young Kogi Governor who challenged him as they both pointed fingers at each other. Meanwhile, the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has repeatedly predicted that the APC will implode before the 2023 presidential election.
