NDLEA Arrest 90 Drug Dealing Suspects In Edo State
Edo state’s National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) arrests suspects who are allegedly involved in dealing illegal drugs in the state.
The Commander of Edo State’s NDLEA, Buba Wakawa, revealed this news during his conversation with reporters on Today in Benin.
The commander revealed that the suspects were arrested across Edo state between July and September, 2021, stating that the suspects were made up of 63 males and 27 females. In total, they arrested 90 suspects in three months.
Buba Wakawa said that they found 7,135.79 kg (kilos) of illegal drugs with the suspects, and the illegal drugs were made up of cannabis sativa (hemp), four pinches of methamphetamine, and psychotropic substances.
He revealed the cannabis sativa measured about 40.03 hectares (a total number of 15 cannabis sativa farms) and they were destroyed after being recovered.
If the farms were not discovered and were left alone, they would have yielded about 192,163.33 kilogrammes of hemp.
Through the commander, it was revealed that the suspects were charged in court, while 48 people who were addicted to drugs were counseled and released to their families.
