Highlights Of The Electoral Act Signed Into Law By President Buhari
In Nigeria, President Muhammadu Buhari has signed the Electoral Act Amendment Bill 2021 into law.
Last Friday, President Buhari signed the Electoral Act in the Council Chambers of the Presidential Villa in Abuja.
This new law would affect the way political parties prepare for the 2023 general elections.
The new Act provides a legal framework which empowers the Independent National Electoral Commission [INEC] to deploy technological solutions for elections in Nigeria.

CSOs commend Buhari for signing Electoral bill
In his speech, President Buhari described the bill as reformative and progressive.
The President said he would help make the Nigerian electoral process better and more transparent.
He said the National Assembly still has to rework section 84(12) of the act.
This is because it prevents political office holders from voting and being voted for during the party primaries.
