Former Governorship Aspirant Of Zamfara State, Sagir Hamidu, Is Dead
Sagir Hamidu, former governorship aspirant of Zamfara state, has died and other people were kidnapped in an attack that happened along the Kaduna-Abuja expressway on Sunday, November 20th, 2021.
The brother of the ex-governship aspirant, Mohammed Surajo Hamidu, said his brother and a police man who acts as his guard, were travelling with his driver from Kaduna to Abuja when the attack happened.
According to his brother, the driver was traveling to Abuja from Kaduna when gunmen opened fire on their car around Katari town.
“Immediately the driver saw the gunmen, he attempted to turn back to drive to Kaduna before they opened fire, and bullets hit my brother in his chest and his leg.” Mohammed Surajo Hamidu, brother of the ex-governorship aspirant, said.
“They kidnapped the police officer and, luckily, the driver escaped.” He added
An eyewitness also recalled how the gunmen’s attack truly happened.
So the whole attack started around 2pm in Katari town, and the gunmen spent over an hour carrying out their devilish acts. I saw over 15 abandoned cars after the whole attack ended. ” The eyewitness revealed,
“Our car was behind them and when we heard the shooting, we waited for two hours before we continued our journey.” The eye witness added.
Local reports say that 40 people were affected by the gunmen’s attack, but the Nigerian Police and Kaduna State government are yet to reveal a statement on the incident.
