EFCC Arrest Former Governor Of Edo State
The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has confirmed the arrest of former governor of Edo State, Lucky Igbinedion.
Spokesperson of the corruption police force, Wilson Uwajuren said they took the former Edo state governor to their headquarters in Abuja to ask him questions concerning the 1.6 billion naira public funds which was allegedly missing.
Reports say that the Edo State government had collected the money as loan but the money entered a company which Lucky Igbinedion is allegedly involved with.
It was revealed this is not the first time as the former governor who ran his seat from the year 1999 to 2007, was once under their custody.
In the year 2008, the EFCC secured conviction on Lucky Igbinedion for embezzling 2.9 billion naira which belonged to Edo State.
The Nigerian corruption police sentenced him to six months in prison after he pleaded guilty to one of the 191 charges that were against him.
