Baby Starved To Death As Teenage Mother’s Boss Seized Child Over Debt

A six-month-old child whose photo surfaced online with reports saying that he was starved, has died.

Chidubem’s reports of his young mothet, 19-year-old Chinyere, have gone viral on social media where they were begging for help.

Chinyere took her case to human rights activist, Harrison Gwamnishu, where she claimed that her boss seized her child because she could not pay back her debt.

She said her boss, who paid her hospital bills when she was pregnant, was demanding a refund and, because she could not pay back the money, her boss seized her baby.

My boss held my pikin for a month because she said I was owing her. It was only after we reported the case to the police and social welfare that she gave me back my child. ” Chinyere revealed.

But the photo of her child, Chidubem, who was lying down in a hospital bed, showed that he was looking terribly ill. Although it was not clear what happened to him, someone who was involved in the case said doctors said Chidubem was suffering from starvation.

The human rights activist, who is identified as Harrison Gwamnishu, was seen on Facebook Live talking to Chinyere and her boss about what actually happened.

In the live video, Chinyere said;

My baby was healthy before my boss took her from me. But after I took my baby back, I saw my baby looking like this, “she said.

“I did not know what happened to him.” She added.

Chinyere’s boss, who is a woman, confirmed that she had returned her son, but she did not reveal how long she held her employee’s baby.

“My own is that you all should tell Chinyere to pick up my call so that we can agree on how she will pay me back my money.” The boss demanded.

Even if she cannot pay it all at the same time or wants to pay the money little by little, I don’t mind, “her boss added.

Human rights activist, Harrison Gwamnishu, said Chinyere’s son, Chidubem, died last night, a few hours after he took the case to social media.

The human rights activist said they do not understand why the Lagos State Social Welfare did not take over the case, but he demanded that the Nigerian authorities should arrest Chinyere’s boss.

“We will report the case again to the Nigerian police, and what we want is for the police to arrest her.” The activist concluded.

“Chidubem was allegedly starved and died at around 9 p.m. on Friday night, and we have told his family that they should not bury him yet.”

“We told the hospital to keep the baby in the mortuary so that the police could do an autopsy if necessary.” He added

During the Facebook live, Chinyere’s boss said she was the one who brought her employee, the teenage mother, to Lagos, adding that she is still owing her money, but she is yet to reveal how much.

People think that he was starved but it is not yet confirmed by the police. But the body of the baby has been kept in the mortuary so an autopsy would be performed to check if the baby wastruly starved or not.
