Man Sentenced To Life Imprisonment For Defiling His Six-Year-Old Sister In Law.

Today monday, Mr Idris Munkaila (Dan Asabe) has been sentenced to life imprisonment by The Jigawa High Court located in Birnin Kudu Local Government Area for defiling his sister in-law and also infecting the little girl with HIV/AIDs.

The accused, Mr Idris Munkaila (Dan Asabe) was arraigned before the court on 26th of June 2017 for allegedly luring a six-year-old girl; his sister in law and having sexual intercourse with her at Sara Town.

Justice Musa Ubale, the Presiding judge, said the offence is in total contradiction to  the Section 283 of the Penal Code Law of Jigawa State.

Five witnesses were presented by the prosecution counsel as proof of the case against Mr Idris. The prosecution counsel tendered two exhibits and the defendant also testified for himself.

On a particular day, the mother of the victim observed her daughter and noticed a whitish discharge coming from the private part of the victim, her daughter.

Soon after, the victim confessed that it was the defendant that had sexual intercourse with her. The victim only spilled this out after much inquiry and pressure.

It also happened to be that the defendant previously had extra marital affair with the victim’s sister before she got married.

And just when she and her suitor went for pre-marital check up, HIV test and more, it was discovered that the victim’s sister was HIV positive.

“The sister of the victim immediately informed her parents that it was the defendant who infected her with the HIV. Unfortunately, the marriage was cancelled, and the sister of the victim was married to the defendant based on arrangement by their families,” the prosecution said.

Mr Justice Musa Ubale, the Presiding judge, found that the prosecution had proved its case beyond reasonable doubt; it was confirmed that the accused was indeed GUILTY as charged.

Therefore sentenced him to life imprisonment as provided under the Jigawa State Penal Code Miscellaneous Amendment, 2014.
