#ENDSARS: Lagos State Government Reject Panel Recommendation Which Said 9 People Died At Lekki Tollgate
The Lagos State government released a white paper on the report of the judicial panel of inquiry which was set up by the Federal government to investigate police brutality, which includes the incidents that happened during 2020’s EndSars protest.
The white paper said that out of the 32 recommendations that the panel talked about, the Lagos state government accepted 11 recommendations, rejected 1, and will accept six recommendations after modifications.
The Lagos State government said earlier that they would release a white paper, which is the official document of the Federal government’s analysis and their solutions to the report that the panel had released.
The state government said the remaining 14 recommendations by the panel are above the powers of the Lagos state government and said they will forward them to the federal government for consideration.
The state government rejected recommendation number 24 in the white paper, which said gunshots from soldiers or police trying to disperse protesters allegedly killed nine people in Lekki tollgate on the 20th of October, 2020, during the endsars protest.
But the state government said the number 24 recommendation is just an assumption and speculation.
