Peng Shuai Denies Accusation Of Accusing Zhang Gaoli Of Sexual Assault
Chinese tennis star Peng Shuai has denied that she accused anyone of sexual assault after reports said that she accused a Chinese leader of forcing her to sleep with him.
The allegations trended on the internet after the tennis player went missing after making a post about the accusation online.
In an interview, Peng Shuai said that many people misunderstood her post, saying she did not write or say anyone sexually assaulted her, adding that she wanted to clear the air.
In a note which was posted on the popular Chinese social media platform, Weibo, Peng Shuai accused former vice premier Zhang Gaoli of forcing her to sleep with him.
She told a reporter named Lianhe Zaobao that nobody was monitoring her, adding that she had always been free.

The interview took place at a sporting event in Shanghai, where the tennis player was accompanied by other national athletes.
“We are still calling for a full, fair, and transparent investigation into her allegation of sexual assault. That is the main reason why we are focusing on this case,” WTA said while interviewing Peng Shuai.
