Commonwealth Master’s Scholarships are designed for candidates from eligible lower and middle-income Commonwealth countries to pursue a full-time taught Master’s degree at a UK university. These scholarships align with six CSC Development themes. As part of a partnership between the Commonwealth Scholarship Commission and King’s College London, scholars receive tuition fee support from King’s.
Eligibility Criteria
Applicants must:
- Be international students
- Hold a bachelor’s degree
- Enroll in a full-time taught Master’s program at a UK university
- Be a citizen of one of the Commonwealth countries listed: Antigua & Barbuda, Bangladesh, Belize, Botswana, Cameroon, Dominica, Eswatini, Fiji, Ghana, Grenada, Guyana, India, Jamaica, Kenya, Kiribati, Lesotho, Malawi, Maldives, Mauritius, Montserrat, Mozambique, Namibia, Nauru, Nigeria, Pakistan, Papua New Guinea, Rwanda, Samoa, Sierra Leone, Solomon Islands, South Africa, Sri Lanka, St. Helena, St. Lucia, St. Vincent & the Grenadines, Tanzania, The Gambia, Tonga, Tuvalu, Uganda, Vanuatu, Zambia.

Scholarship Benefits
Each scholarship includes:
- Approved airfare from the home country to the UK and return at the end of the award (dependents’ fares are not covered)
- Full tuition fees covered by agreement between CSC and the UK university
- Monthly stipend: £1,347 or £1,652 for those studying in London (current rates)
- Warm clothing allowance (if applicable)
- Thesis grant for the cost of preparing a thesis or dissertation (if applicable)
- Study travel grant for study-related travel within the UK or overseas
- Child allowance of £576.61 per month for the first child and £143 per month for the second and third child under 16 if the scholar is a single parent, widowed, or divorced, and the children live with the scholar in the UK (current rates)
- Full assessment and additional financial support for scholars with disabilities
Application Procedures
To apply, candidates must go through one of the nominating agencies listed below and also apply to the CSC. Nominating agencies then recommend candidates to the CSC. Direct applications to the CSC are not accepted.
1. National nominating agencies: This is the primary application route
2. Selected NGOs and charitable organizations
Each nominating agency manages its own selection process and may have additional eligibility requirements. Applicants should verify the specific criteria and deadlines with the relevant nominating agency.
Additionally, candidates must complete an application using the CSC’s online application system alongside any other applications required by the nominating agency. The CSC will not consider applications submitted outside their online system.
