APC To Elect New National Leaders On February
The Progressive Governors Forum (PGF) promises that Apc’s national convention to elect new leaders will be held next month (February).
The Chairman of the forum, Atiku Bagudu, was the one who revealed this during his meeting with journalists after having seen the body in Abuja last night.
The Yobe Governor said that the February Convention, which was approved by President Muhammadu Buhari, was too important to be interfered with and would be respected.
He stated that the APC Caretaker and the Extra-ordinary Convention Planning Committee (CECPC) were the right people to announce the specific February date.
“We are one group of stakeholders, and our party respects institutions. The appropriate organ of the party that will announce a date for the national convention is the CECPC, “he said.
APC May Adopt Consensus Ahead Of February Convention
“We discussed our upcoming convention, at which I will have the cause to address the press after visiting President Buhari in November 2021.” He and the party agreed that the convention would take place in February.
“We took inputs about the reviews and we noted all the misrepresentations in the press that we sought to correct that the PGF is one united body, as you can see evidently from the attendance,” Bagudu said.
Salihu Lukman, PGF Director-General, was one of the party chieftains opposed to further postponement of the national convention.
He recently wrote a letter to the Governor of Kebbi State, Abubakar Atiku Bagudu, warning of the consequences if the convention fails to take place next month.
