Updates On The Ojodu Grammar School Accident

The Federal Route Safety Corps (FRSC) has said they were not involved in the accident that happened yesterday when Ojodu Grammar School was hit by a trailer.

Rumors claim that the traffic officers were pursuing the truck and that was what led to the accident.

Sector and Corps Commander Olusegun Ogungbemide said that Nigerians should not listen to misinformation about the accident, adding that their officer only helped to clear the scene of the accident and restore free flow of traffic in the area.

“Our Federal Route Safety Corps (FRSC) personnel rescued about seven of the victims and quickly carried them to the Lagos State Emergency Centre, Ojota, while another road user helped carry about seven others to the same emergency centre. ” Sector and Corps Commander, Olusegun Ogungbemide, added.

Meanwhile, the Director General or CEO of the Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (Lasema) shared what they knew about the accident.

The Director General or CEO of the Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (Lasema), Olufemi Oke-Osanyintolu, released a statement saying the agency received a distress call at around 2pm that a truck accident had happened at Ogunusi Road, Ojodu Grammar School Bus-stop, Ojodu Berger.

He added that an informant had said that an unidentified truck lost control and hit students who were returning from school.

He added in the statement that many of the ojodu grammar school students were injured and some died.

Because of the accident, students from Ojodu Grammar School and nearby residents were angry. They destroyed vehicles and other properties, attacked emergency and traffic officers, and said they did not know how many people were hit by the trailer.
