Davido Bags International Award While Mourning His Late Son
Nigerian Singer, David Adedeji Adeleke, better known by his stage name Davido, who is currently grieving the tragic death of his 3-year-old son Ifeanyi, has been named among the Africans and Americans to be honored at the Afro Award in Los Angeles, California.
Taiwo Oduala, Founder and Executive Producer of The Afro Awards, confirmed the news, adding that Davido’s uncle, Sen. Ademola Jackson-Adeleke, is also among the awardees.
Along with Davido, the First Lady of Sierra Leone, Mrs Fatima Maada, Ayuko Babu (Founder & CEO of the Pan African Film Festival), and Seye Kehinde, a renowned Nigerian Journalist, will be honored.
He stated that the awardees are Africans and Americans who have excelled in various fields.
The most anticipated event of the year, the Afro Awards 2022, is set to take place on Sunday, November 6 at Regal La Live 1000 W Olympic Blvd, Los Angeles, California 90015, USA.
“The main focus of the award is to support people who have demonstrated exceptional humanitarian excellence in various fields, ” he said.

Ifeanyi Adeleke, Davido’s son, died on Monday, October 31st, just a few days after his third birthday on October 20th.
According to a family member, “The boy was inside water for too long and they pulled him out and rushed him to the hospital,”
He was taken to Evercare Hospital in Lekki, where he was pronounced dead.
It was also learned that his parents, Davido and Chioma, had traveled to Ibadan for a family gathering and had left Ifeanyi with helpers, who are baffled as to how he entered the pool without being noticed and drowned.
