Zamfara Assembly Suspend Two Lawmakers For Allegedly Working With Bandits

On Tuesday, the House of Assembly in Zamfara state suspended two members who are accused of having ties with bandits who kill and kidnap people.

The Spokesperson of the Zamfara Assembly, Mustapha Jafaru, released a statement saying that the House of Assembly has suspended two lawmakers for three months, so an investigation will be conducted into their allegations.

During their suspension, the two lawmakers will face the ethics committee in the assembly as part of their investigations.

The two lawmakers are Tukur Bakura, who is representing Bakura local government, and Yusuf Muhammaf Anka, who is representing the Anka constituency in the house of assembly.

Yusuf Muhammad Anka, who is one of the suspended lawmakers, reacted by saying that the decision made by Zamfara Assembly is nothing but a witch hunt as he is among the members who are trying to impeach the speaker of the house of assembly.

Nigerians living in Zamfara state have also said that Tukur Bakura, the other suspended lawmaker, was trying to change from APC to PDP and that was why he was accused of having ties with bandits who kill and kidnap people.
