Why We Arrested Actor Chiwetalu Agu – Nigerian Army
The Nigerian army has arrested Nollywood actor, Chiwetalu Agu, and According to their official state, the Nigerian army arrested him as he gathered people in the public to support the proscribed Indegenous People of Biafra (IPOB).
In the official statement, the Nigerian army added that they arrested the Nollywood actor who wore the IPOB outfit for questioning, and when he resisted their arrest, the Nigerian Army made an effort to take him into custody without assaulting or hitting him.
According to the official statement, the Nigerian army added that while they recognize the rights of citizens to freedom of movement and expression as it is in the constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, it is also a violation for any individual or group to encourage the public to cause mayhem or break down law and order.
News of the Nollywood actor’s arrest came after a viral video showed how Nigerian men who wore military uniforms stopped the actor in Onitsha, Anambra state.
In the viral video, men in military uniforms stopped a green bus with “Chukwuwetalu films” written on it, and the men started dragging the Nollywood actor as he came down from the green mini bus.
Chiwetalu Agu kept struggling and the men who wore military uniforms kept dragging him until crowd gathered around them, but a gunshot sound made the crowd run away from the scene.
After seeing the video, many Nigerians reacted by saying the army should not harm Chiwetalu Agu.
