Why Nnamdi Kanu’s Trial Was Adjourned Till Next Year

The trial of the separatist leader of the indigenous people of Biafra, Nnamdi Kanu, has been adjourned until the 19th and 20th of January, 2022.

Nnamdi Kanu, who is the leader of the proscribed group, IPOB, made his third court appearance since June 2021, when security agents brought him back to Nigeria from a foreign country which has not yet been revealed to the public.

Nnamdi Kanu’s lawyers staged a walk-out before the judge entered the courtroom to make the pronouncement.

The new development happened after Kanu told the judge that one of his counsel from the United States of America, Bruce Fein, was not allowed to access the court by the Nigerian secret police, Department of State Services.

Nnamdi Kanu entered the courtroom just before 10 am this morning. But he noticed that the Department of State Service, the DSS, did not allow his counsel, Bruce Fein, who came from America, to attend his trial in court.

The Judge of the high court, Justice Binta Nyako, asked Nnamdi Kanu if he would like to continue with his case, but the Ipob leader replied that unless they allow his counsel, Bruce Fein, who was there to observe the case, to enter the court, he would not continue his trial.

So his trial was adjourned till next year.
