Colin Powell, America’s first black secretary of state, is dead
His family were the ones who announced his death, saying he died at the age of 84 from complications related to COVID-19.
Colin Powel was a popular military officer who rose to fame the first African-American secretary of state in the year 2001 under 43rd President of the united states, politician George W. Bush.
His family released a statement saying that they had lost him, thanking the medical staff who took care of him when he was ill.
His family’s statement said he had been vaccinated against Covid, but due to some complications, he passed away.
Colin Luther Powell was born to Jamaican immigrants in Harlem, New York City, on April 5th, 1937.
Colin Powell was a moderate Republican who left his party to endorse the 44th American President, Barack Obama, in the year 2008.
He became a trusted military adviser to senior United States politicians, and was wounded in Vietnam during service.
