Wales Joins List Of Countries In The World Where It Is Illegal To Beat A Child
From Monday, parents will not be allowed to beat their children again in Wales as it is illegal!
As Wales becomes the second country in the United Kingdom to ban physical punishment,
So, from now on, anyone who smacks or beats a child will be arrested and charged with assault.
But people have reacted, saying they don’t like the new law.
Sweden was the first country to ban the beating of children in 1979, and now it is illegal in 63 countries around the world.
Guinea, South Africa, Benin, South Sudan, the Republic of Congo, Kenya, Tunisia, and Togo are among the African countries.
The Welsh government said it is an historic moment for children and their rights, and that means children have the same rights as adults.

The new law will only apply to Wales’ citizens and will apply to parents and anyone else who cares for their children when their parents are unable to do so.
Physical punishment is already prohibited in children’s homes, local authority foster care homes, and other facilities where people are cared for.
