Updates On Mobile Network Suspension In Zamfara State
A single day without a mobile network is most people’s worst nightmare, while for some people it is an everyday thing, so they are not affected by the sudden development.
This is the reality of Nigerians in Zamfara state in northern Nigeria as they enter the 4th day without a network in their mobile phones and other gadgets that use networks, after the Zamfara state government ordered all mobile networks to shut down.
According to the Nigerian Communications Commission, who ordered the shutdown from September 3rd to September 17th, 2021, this order is to allow security agencies to perform their work as they are trying to put a stop to the insecurity problems which have been troubling Zamfara state for many years now.
The northern western Nigerian state has farming as their pride and motto and for years now, many of the farmers are afraid to go work because of armed bandits who are troubling their daily lives.
Many Nigerians who live in Zamfara state have died and others have been displaced as armed bandits or gunmen from the bush attack villages and towns. They kill people and kidnap others for ransom.
Last week, gunmen attacked Government Secondary School Kaya Maradun, where they kidnapped 73 students but According to the police, 5 students were later rescued. The remaining students are still in captivity.
This year alone, the number of killings and kidnappings in Zamfara state is troubling. This is why the north-western state decided to suspend some markets and block some roads a few days ago, which they claimed would reduce the power of the armed bandits.
Mobile network suspension was later decided as another solution to the insecurity problems in the state, and in the last couple of days, many Nigerians have been waiting to see if the solutions will end the security problems in Zamfara state.
