Ghanaian Police Arrest Student Who Killed His Friend Over Debt Of Ghc100 (5,500 Naira)

Police in the Ashanti Region of Ghana arrested a young man who killed his friend because he owed him GHC100 and was trying to avoid repayment of the debt.

When police arrived at the crime scene, they discovered the victim had a swollen neck and blood was coming out of his nostrils. They found

a stick about 20 meters away from the body of the deceased, which they suspect is the murder weapon.

According to Ashanti Region Police, the victim, Nana Gyamfi, visited the suspect, Emmanuel Boateng, at a house which is located in Esaso-Kwablafo.

The two later left the house to hangout, but the deceased did not return home until they discovered the dead body in a bush around 5.20pm last Friday.

According to the police, the suspect, Emmanuel Boateng, confessed to luring his friend into the bush, where he was killed.

The Police said the suspect claimed that he killed his friend because he refused to pay the GHC100 he owes.

Ashanti Police PRO, Godwin Ahianyo, explains that the suspect, Emmanuel Boateng, who is also a tailor apprentice, stole a iPhone 11 Pro Max from the deceased.

Authorities, however, suspect there is something more sinister behind the murder than just an attempt by the suspect to escape payment of a GHC100 debt.

The father of the deceased, Yaw Adugyamfi, talked to the local press and claimed they killed his son because of his phone.
