Sokoto state shut down Shehu Shagari College of Education after Deborah Samuel’s death on Thursday.

Deborah Samuel, a student of the college, lost her life on campus after she did an act of blasphemy.

Because of an incident, security has closed the school and both government and school authorities have ordered students to leave.

According to a Sokoto-based journalist, trouble began after Deborah dropped a voice note on a Whatsapp group.

The voice note was said to contain ‘blasphamy’ word against the holy prophet in the Quran go viral.

Sokoto state Police command have started investigating in the the ‘killing’ of Deborah Samuel.

Deborah Samuel is a 200-level Economics student at Shehu Shagari College of Education.

Although the incident occurred, police spokesperson Sanusi Abubakar says the details are still sketchy

“From the investigation they would really find out what is really happening,” ASP Sanusi Abubakar added.

Reports say they mobbed her to death

The mob were on a rampage, destroying property, including vehicles, as well as blocking a major highway.

Police say two suspects were arrested and that the tertiary college will remain closed until further notice.
