
Dr. Joseph Wayas, the late former president of the Senate, was hailed by the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Boss Mustapha, as a fervent believer in federalism.
He also stated that the late Wayas worked tirelessly to maintain the nation’s unity.

Mustapha made the announcement in a statement released by Willie Basset, the Director of Information for the Office of the Secretary of the Federal Government, on Thursday.
“SGF mourns the death of Dr. Joseph Wayas,” the statement read.
“The SGF mourns the passing of Dr. Joseph Wayas, former President of the Senate, who died on Tuesday, November 30th, 2021, in a London hospital,” it said.

“From 1979 to 1983, late Dr. Joseph Wayas served as President of the Senate of the Second Republic. Between 1977 and 1978, he was a member of the Constituent Assembly, and from 2005 to 2006, he was a member of the National Political Reform Conference.
