Police Arrest Boyfriend Of Suspended Nursing Student, Charles Okpora, Over Leaked S€x Tape

Charles Ugumanum Okpora, boyfriend of a Cross River State School of Nursing student (Itigidi), has been detained for allegedly releasing s€x tapes of his sweetheart, Grecious Paradise.

Mr. Charles was detained last weekend in Calabar, following a petition submitted by rights lawyer Usani Odum to the Assistant Inspector General of Police, Zone 6 Calabar.

Odum, a South African lawyer, had taken up the matter pro bono, petitioning the police and other relevant authorities, who sprung into action by detaining the suspect after investigations were completed.

Last month, Ms. Precious became the target of popular derision after three sexually explicit recordings of her leaked online.

In a chat interview with CrossRiverWatch, her boyfriend, Charles, admitted to sending the s€x tapes to six close friends of Ms. Gracious via Messenger and accused them for disseminating them on other platforms.

He afterwards apologised and asked for forgiveness from Ms. Gracious John, her family, and friends, blaming his actions on being tipsy after drinking rum with a few buddies.

Commenting on the arrest, Mr Odum said: “Following my last post wherein I promised to get justice for the victim of the leaked s€x tapes, We followed up the promise with a strong-worded petition to the AIG in zone 6, Calabar, and did all we needed to do to mobilize the police for that purpose.

“I’m happy to announce to us all that the suspect, Mr. Oberu (Charles) Ugumanum Okpora was arrested last weekend, and shall be charged before the Court as soon as practicable. Our goal is to ensure he’s prosecuted under the Nigerian Cyber Crimes Act, 2015.

“I want to thank my colleagues and friends who helped us in this regard. And I want to reiterate this point to would-be blackmailers; we’d get you. Distance is not a problem. We don’t need to be in Nigeria to help the police pick you up.”

Attempts to contact the state’s Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Mrs. Irene Ugbo, for comment on the matter were unsuccessful, as her cell phone rang multiple times without receiving a response.
