Nigerian Filmmaker Releases New Movie (Abdul) To Mark #EndSARS Anniversary

Samuel Adeoye, a Nigerian filmmaker, has released the trailer of his new short film, Abdul, in memory of the one-year anniversary of the # EndSARS protest, named Abdul.

Abdul is a short movie which has three languages of expression, which are German, English , and Yoruba. The movie was released on Wednesday, October 20th, 2021.

In discussing the great success, Abdul made it known that it is a must-do for Nigerians to tell the world their stories, especially the secretive ones.

He wrote:

“The ENDSARS protest that happened on October 20, 2020, is one that has become historical. The United Nations agency and other Nigerians in and out of the country were affected. We had to tell the story through film”, Adeoye said.

The movie will also premiere at the approaching 2021 African International Film Festival (AFRIFF).

Abdul Saliou, Franziska Maria, Linda Bockmeyer, and Jimoh Adesola Saidat, amongst others, feature in “Abdul”, the movie.

The short movie is about Abdul, a 24-year-old Nigerian man, who was on a visit to Germany and finds it safer in foreign jail than returning to his home country.
