The National Examinations Council [NECO] has released the results of the Senior Secondary School Certificate Examination (SSCE) which secondary students wrote in July 2021.
This news was announced by the National Examinations Council [NECO] registrar, Dantani Ibrahim Wushishi.
Dantani Ibrahim Wushishi announced the news to reporters at their headquarters in Minna, Niger State, today, October 29th, 2021.
The professor also apologized to the public and students who wrote the exam for the late release of the results. He said out of 1,233,631 candidates who registered for the SSCE exams, only 1,226,796 sat for them.
The council’s registrar also said in the conference that the number of candidates who got five credits and above, especially in compulsory subjects like English and Mathematics, was 878,925.
He explained that when he compared the number of people who passed the exams this year to those who passed last year, the percentage decreased to 2.25%.
Dantani Ibrahim Wushishi added that examination malpractice this year was reduced more than last year because they used tools like biometric verification for security.
He revealed that NECo de-recognised five schools in Bauchi state, Bayelsa state, Kaduna state, and two schools in Katsina state for two years because they participated in mass examination malpractice.
NECO blacklisted 20 teachers who supervised the exams for many offences. Some were blacklisted for poor supervision, while some were blacklisted for helping candidates cheat. While some were bribed.
