18-year-old Shatu Garko has won the 44th edition of the Miss Nigeria beauty pageant.
Shatu Garko beat 18 other Nigerian contestants in the beauty pageant that took place last night, on the 17th of December 2021, in the Landmark Centre in Victoria Island, Lagos, Nigeria.
She is the first hijabi who won the Miss Nigeria pageant.
Nicole Ikot was announced as the first runner-up, and Kasarachi Okoro was announced as the second runner-up in the beauty pageant contest.
The 18-year-old has taken over from Etsanyi Tukura, who hails from Taraba State and was the 43rd winner of the 2019 Miss Nigeria beauty pageant contest.
The organisers of the beauty pageant said that Shatu Garko, the winner of the 44th Miss Nigeria, which was held on the 17th of December, 2021, went home with 10 million naira, a brand new car, a 1-year residency in a luxury apartment, and famous brand ambassadorship opportunities.
The organisers added that the annual pageant, which showcases the positive attributes of Nigerian women, is now in its 44th year.
The 2021 Miss Nigeria hails from Kano State and represented the north-west Nigeria in the competition.
It was revealed in her bio in the competition that the 18-year-old hijab model loves horse riding.
Shatu Garko also celebrated herself on her Instagram page for becoming the first hijab model to have a particular modelling job.
