The Lagos State government has ordered the indefinite closure of Dowen College, which is located in Lekki.
The State Ministry of Education confirmed the closure of the boarding school today, December 3rd, 2021.
The school will be closed down until an investigation into the death of Sylvester Oromoni Jnr., a student at the educational institution, finishes.

The Lagos Commissioner for Education released a statement, announcing the closure after a meeting with the Dowen College’s management and staff.
Lagos Commissioner for Education, Folasade Adefisayo, pleaded with the public to calm down, adding that the authorities would not spare any effort to get to the root of what truly happened.

“Many people are threatening to burn down the school, so we have told them to shut down while we investigate the matter.” Mrs. Folasade Adefisayo said, adding that if the school wants to do any activity, they should do it from home.
