The Lagos State Government bans the use of all types of loudspeakers at motor parks across Lagos state.
The Special Adviser on Transportation, Oluwatoyin Fayinka, was the one who made the announcement at a Lagos State Environmental Protection Agency (LASEPA) briefing.
The special adviser complained about the indiscriminate use of amplifiers and speakers to attract passengers for transportation.
He added that from now on, any public transport vehicle caught using any loudspeaker would be punished according to the law.
Oluwatoyin Fayinka said the Park Monitoring Committee has been mandated to monitor parks for total compliance and restore sanity.
The Permanent Secretary, Ministry of the Environment and Water Resources (OES), Tajudeen Gaji, states that the loudspeakers cause noise pollution, and the noise pollution was beyond permissible limits.

Tajudeen Gaji also said that apart from the transport vehicles, commercial, religious, and entertainment industries are also among them.
“Adults show great concerns about problems associated with noise pollution, but children are quite vulnerable as there are no known visible symptoms at an early age,” he noted.
