Actress Iyabo Ojo, singer Peter Okoye, and popular media personlity Ifedayo Olarinde, better known as Daddy Freeze, have joined their colleagues in condemning the country’s rising cases of domestic violence.
In addition, the celebrities urged religious leaders and parents to stop encouraging people to remain in abusive relationships rather than divorce.
This comes just a few days after the death of Bimbo Ogbonna, the wife of IVD, a celebrity car dealer.
Bimbo, who accused the businessman of assaulting her for several years in 2019, died on Saturday as a result of domestic violence, according to reports.
Celebrities have joined Nigerians on social media to offer advice and express concern about the cause of her death.

When love is no longer sweet, Ojo advised women to walk away from abuse.
Peter Okoye advised them to avoid violent unions. “Dont stay in any marriage that will lead to death! Getting married is different from living married! If it’s not working! Walk away!. PERIOD.”
Pope Obumneme, popularly known as Junior Pope in Nollywood, advised women to avoid men who resort to physical abuse and beatings on their partners as a means of escaping imminent danger to their lives.
According to Daddy Freeze;
“a living divorced son or daughter is better than a married child that has ‘kpaid’. Parents and pastors should learn to encourage people in toxic marriages to leave and remarry without the fear of excommunication.”
