Nigerian chef Hilda Baci, who previously held the Guinness World Record for the “longest cooking marathon (individual),” recently made headlines when she gracefully stepped down from her record-breaking throne.

Her record was surpassed by Irish chef Alan Fisher, who managed an astonishing 119 hours and 57 minutes of nonstop cooking, exceeding Baci’s previous achievement by more than 24 hours.

The gracious transition of the culinary crown took place on social media, where both chefs updated their bios to reflect the change in the record-holder status. This gesture of mutual respect and sportsmanship highlighted the camaraderie within the world of culinary achievements.

In a statement shared on her social media handle, Hilda Baci explained her decision to remove “Guinness World Record holder” from her bio.

She emphasized the significance of recognizing progress and celebrating the spirit of competition. She said, “Achieving such a record is no small feat, and I know this firsthand. I have only the greatest admiration for the hard work it took for Alan to reach such heights.”
