“I Told The Islamic Teachers To Flog My Child Like That”- Parent Of A Student In Viral Video Says

A parent of one of the students in a viral video which showed Islamic teachers flogging them says that he asked the Arabic school to punish his child by flogging.

Yunus Olarenwaju, who is the father of the female student in the viral video, told reporters that he has known the Arabic school for 20 years and eight of his children have graduated from the school.

Mr. Olanrewaju added that he instructed the school to give his daughter the punishment she deserved after he saw the video of his daughter drinking with boys at a birthday party.

“In Islam, if you catch someone drinking, the first thing is to preach to that person. If it continues and you want punishment to follow, the Islamic authorities are there to report to, and from there, all the other legal steps will follow before any sort of punishment.” Mr. Olanrewaju said.

“Islam is against what the teachers did because there is nowhere in Islam that will give you the right to flog any person like that, even if the parents give you consent. There are many places where Islamic laws do not work, and for those places, someone is expected to preach instead of taking laws into their own hands. ” He added.
