How I Made A Miracle Recovery From First Degree Burns – Princess Ezeani

Princess Ezeani describes her experience after she survived a cooking gas explosion at her house in Abuja.

Princess Ezeani is 20 years old and aspires to be a model after suffering first-degree burns in a domestic incident in November 2021.

On the day of the accident, she went into the kitchen to prepare food for her family, aware that her mother was cooking rice. She went to help her mother cook fish, and they went to eat rice, not realizing that her mother had accidentally left the oven part of the gas on.

As Princess tries to light the oven, the gas exploded in her face, landing her in the hospital.

“At that time it happened for four nights, I couldn’t sleep because I kept having nightmares saying the fire was still burning me,” Princess, who is from Enugu State in southeast Nigeria, told BBC Pidgin.

My mental health is one out of ten because I stayed in my room every day and cry, telling myself, ‘is this how I would look like forever?I get really sad and depressed.

The domestic accident made Princess stop school.

Her mother arrived to encourage her and tell her that the burns would not disfigure her for the rest of her life.

The healing process for Princess began as her mama, together with her aunt, started using things like honey, geevee, and Aloe Vera to apply on her skin.

Surprisingly, according to Princess, the process did not require them to go to the hospital because the burns started healing in less than six months while they continue to apply the substances.
