How Gas Explosion Killed 9 People In Kano State

It has been confirmed that the number of casualties from a single explosion in Kano state increased from four to nine.

According to the Nigeria Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs, victims are being recovered from the rubble of the building where the blast occurred.

The explosion also affected the outside of a school yard close to the place.

Recall that not too long ago, Kano State Police had announced that four people died in the explosion that erupted in the Sabon Gari area of Kano, Northern Nigeria.

Rumour says that many would die after an ‘illegal oil bunkering site’ in Egbema exploded.

The investigation is ongoing, but preliminary reports indicate that the explosion was caused by a gas cylinder from a welder shop.

Police confirm four dead in Kano gas explosion

The Kano state commissioner of police, CP Sam’ila Dikko, said, “We know this because one of the first victims was a local welder.”

“Four people died, three men and one woman, but we never found a student who was a victim of the explosion,” He added.

According to Indabo, who spoke to BBC Hausa,

The incident affected many people including school children around the area.

Pictures and videos posted on social media today show children crystal and people as they dey put their hands on top of the building that collapsed due to the explosion.
