The former student leader, an English-Hausa level-two student named Abubakar Sulaiman, also died in the deadly accident.
The National Association Nigerian Students (NANS) is mourning the College of Education students, who are from Kano state.
The five students were traveling for a zonal students meeting when the accident happened in Bichi local government area of the state.
The Governor of Kano state, Abdullahi Ganduje, sent his condolences to the families of the deceased students and added that Kano state is currently mourning their deaths.

“We used four cars to travel from our school. In fact, some students did not even see space in the vehicles and had to give up the trip.”
“Some Nigerians are saying the cause of the accident was over-speeding, but that was not what happened. After we passed Bichi local government, a junction was just at the front and as the driver was trying to slow down, one of the tyres of the vehicle burst, which led to an accident. ” Ahmad Abubakar, the Student Union Government leader at Kano State College of Education, stated.
