Gunmen Attack Wedding Because They Played Music

In Afghanistan, gunmen confessed that they killed 2 people and injured 10 at a wedding in the eastern part of the country.

The gunmen, who are from the Taliban, killed and injured people because they played music at the wedding ceremony.

The Taliban’s Spokesperson, Zabihullah Mujahid, stated that two of the three gunmen involved in the attack had been apprehended and that the Taliban had not sent them to attack the wedding.

They banned music between the years of 1996 and 2001. But they never issued any of those kinds of orders this time.

It was revealed that four couples were having a joint wedding on Friday, October 29th, 2021 in the province of Nangarhar.

The four couples already got an excuse from the local Taliban leader so they could play recorded music in the wedding ceremony, but late at night, the gunmen entered the wedding ceremony and tried to break the loudspeaker that played the music.

After they broke the speaker, the guests complained and that’s when they started shooting them.

Zabihullah Mujahid said that they are currently investigating the incident.

The Islamic State group has been active in the province for some while now and they have been accused of attacks like this incident.

Although the Taliban have never banned music, since they took power in the beginning of August, they have been accused of killing a folk singer and breaking instruments. Because of this recent development, many Afghan singers and musicians are leaving the country.
