Five People Killed In Cultists Clash In Osun State
Today, Osun state police command said five people were killed after violent clashes between two rival cult groups in Ilesa town.
The Spokesperson of the state Police, Yemisi Opalola, said the clashes had happened late on Monday.
But another figure, which is different from the one that the police gave, is that eight people were killed.
According to witnesses, the clashes happened in Osun Ankara, Iloro, and Idasa areas in Ilesa metropolis late on Monday.
He said the clashes had involved a cult group (Black Axe), which is popularly called Aye, and another rival group, which is popularly called Eiye. He also added that about six out of the eight people who died were hit by stray bullets.
“It was Aye (Black Axe) that came from the outskirts of the town to attack the Eiye group. It was like a revenge attack.” He said
The Spokesperson of the state Police, Yemisi Opalola, said authorities had taken action to stop further problems. More men were deployed to the areas that were affected.
