Federal Government React To Report Which Said Third Mainland Bridge Is Shaking
In Nigeria, the federal government has reacted to a viral report which said the the Third mainland bridge has opened up and it shakes.
Federal Controller of Works in Lagos, Engineer Olukayode Popoola, released a statement saying that the report which said the the third mainland bridge is unsafe to drive through is a big lie.
In a statement which was released by the Director Press & Public Relations Federal Ministry of Works and Housing, Boade Akinola, Engineer Olukayode Popoola said the Third Mainland Bridge does not shake and it is very safe and intact.
The engineer clarified the report after a video which was spread in social media about the condition of the Third Mainland Bridge.
After the video became viral, Nigerian social media users later said that video is an old video and the video came out before the repair work which the federal goment carried out on the bridge earlier this year.
Federal Controller of Works of Lagos assured Nigerians that the bridge is intact adding that he just drived through the Bridge without seeing any opening or experiencing any shaking as the social media video said.
Engineer Olukayode Popoola advised Nigerians, especially commuters, to ignore the social media video adding that the Third Mainland bridge is receiving regular attention along with other bridges across Nigeria and it is very safe to use.
