The Federal Government of Nigeria has announced increase in the cost of acquiring both single-phase and three-phase electricity meters starting from Monday, November 15, 2021.

The Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission issued a circular on November 11, 2021, which it addressed to managing directors, all electricity distribution firms, and all meter asset providers.

The circular was titled ‘Review of the unit price of end-use meters under the Meter Asset Provider and National Mass Metering Regulations’ and has the reference number NERC/REG/MAP/GEN/751/2.

The price of a single-phase meter and three phase meter were hiked by the regulator in the circular.

For instance, the price of a single-phase meter was hiked from its current price of N44,896.17 to an adjusted price of N58,661.69. While the price of a three-phase meter was hiked from its current price of N82,855.19 to an adjusted rate of N109,684.36.
