Dozens Of People Burn To Death In Niger Delta

25 People were burned to death in an illegal refinery explosion that happened at the weekend.

Local reporters and residents around the scene of the incident said that children were among the people who died in the fire.

Illegal refining is common in the oil-rich Niger-Delta region of Nigeria, where poor people who love it steal from pipelines to make fuel and sell it to make money.

Residents around the scene of the incident said a fire broke out after a crude oil pipe exploded in an illegal oil refinery in Rumuekpe community, Emohua Local Government Area of Rivers State.

The explosion which happened in the illegal oil refinery also blasted other pipelines which were connected to it in the community. The incident caused huge flames of fire all over the place, affecting various parts of the community.

Many houses that were near the refinery were destroyed. And some residents who live nearby were injured. Some were even taken to the hospital for having excessive injuries.
