Paul Kehinde, also known as Olumi Agberin, a former world number one para powerlifter, Olympic gold medallist and Commonwealth Games champion, is dead.
Kehinde, who in his lifetime was the current world record-holder in the men’s 65kg category, passed on on Thursday after a brief illness.
The deceased held the following world titles in his Olympic sporting career: 6 gold medals as follows: He won gold medals at the 2014 Commonwealth Games, the 2015 All African Games (setting an African record of 214kg), the 2016 Rio Paralympic Games (breaking the world record twice with lifts of 218kg and 220kg), the Mexico World Championship (setting another world record lift of 220kg), the 2018 FAZZA World Para-Powerlifting Championship (setting another world record lift of 220kg), and the 2018 African Championship.
He has won a medal at the 2011 World, and two silver medals at the 2018 Commonwealth Games, Australia.
