Joke Silva, a well-known Nollywood actress and director, recently explained why she declined requests to film scenes at her home. According to the Nigerian Tribune, she stated that she cannot tolerate having more than 20 people in her home at the same time.
Silva emphasized the importance of establishing well-equipped film studios and sound stages on par with those found in the United States. She stated that she could not allow strangers to enter her home for an extended period of time to film.
Joke Silva, a prominent figure in the women’s division of the entertainment industry, was an active participant in the campaign that resulted in the election of Bola Tinubu as President.
She noted that, given the large number of people who are usually present on a movie set, allowing them access to her personal belongings within her home would be impractical.
Silva, who is married to veteran performer Olu Jacobs, confirmed that “nowadays, we film in flats. Nevertheless, I will not permit the shooting of movies in my residence; it is out of the question. I am mindful of the headcount of individuals who are typically present during filming.”
“There might be only two people present in a scene, but about 20 individuals may be required to shoot it. This implies that 20 people will touch my walls, use the bathroom, and perform other activities,” she stated.
Nonetheless, Joke Silva advised her colleagues to follow the lead of American actor Tyler Perry, who built one of the world’s largest sound stages. The use of sound stages has the advantage of usually having facades.
