The former governor of Oyo State, Christopher Alao Akala, is dead.
He died at the age of 71, but the cause of his death is not yet clear.
Christopher Alao Akala was born on June 3, 1950 in Ogbomoso. From 2007 to 2011, he served as the governor of Oyo State.
He came from Ogbomoso, in the Ogbomoso North Local Government Area of Oyo State.
He became the Deputy Governor of Oyo State from May 2003 to January 2006, before he became the Executive Governor of Oyo State in the year 2007, till he left his office in May 2011 under the People’s Democratic Party, PDP.

In the year 2014, the late Akala joined the Labour party in Oyo state because of internal irregularities in his former party.
In the 2015 general elections, Christopher Alao-Akala contested as the gubernatorial flagbearer of the Labour party in Oyo State, but he did not win the election.
He also contested to be the governor of Oyo state again in the year 2019 but contested under the ADP party.
