Cameroon Police Arrest A Policeman Who Killed A Young Student

Governor of Northwest Cameroon, Adolph Lele L’Afrique, reveals that the authorities have arrested the policeman who shot a 12-year old student in New Road Nkwen.

The 12-year-old female student was identified as Tataw Brandy, and she died in Bamenda after police officers shot at a pick-up vehicle in Bamenda, which is the capital of North West Cameroon.

Governor Adolph Lele L’Afrique told reporters in Bamenda that they have begun an investigation and they have found out that the student died because of the gunshots, and he assured them that they would punish the policeman who shot her.

The Governor also confirmed reports that the policeman allegedly fired the gunshot at a vehicle from which he claimed that they were running away.

According to eyewitnesses, the police officer was chasing the pick-up vehicle around the New Road Nkwen when he pulled the trigger.

“The head of state has called me to extend his condolences to the family of the deceased,” he added.

The Delegate General for National Security, Martin Mbarga Nguele, also confirmed the police officer’s arrest.
