Today, the National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS) protested in the Federal Capital Territory of Abuja and some other Nigerian states over the strike by the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU).
Sunday Asefon, the National President of the association, and other students gathered at the Unity Fountain this morning, carrying and displaying placards for the strike to be called off.
Other states where they protested include Jos, Kano State, Plateau State, Minna, Nasarawa, Niger State, Taraba State, Jalingo and others.
They marched from the Unity Fountain to the Federal Secretariat and then proceeded to the National Assembly during the protest.
Last Tuesday, we recalled that the National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS) issued a one-week ultimatum to the Federal Government to resolve their disagreement with ASUU or face a national mass protest by students from all over the nation.
The students promised that they would block some major roads in the nation’s capital if the government and ASUU do not resolve the issues throughout the weekend.
