Aruna Bows Out Of 2021 ITTF World Table Tennis Championships
Quadri Aruna’s historic run at the 2021 ITTF World Table Game Championships in Houston came to an end with a 4-2 loss in the men’s singles quarterfinals to Sweden’s Truls Moregard.
When falling down in the first two games of the 4-2 (13-11, 11-8, 2-11, 11-4, 12-14, 11-7) loss in the quarter-finals, Aruna, who had earlier defeated Swedish Kristian Karlsson in the round of 16, regretted his inability to tame the young and experienced 19-year-old Swede.
“I think I did okay.” I gave my all in the last match, but it wasn’t meant to be.
“The first two sets were critical.” We used to start with a 50-50 split, and I used to be 10-8 in the first set, which I lost. I lost the second set by an almost identical margin. After all, he was the one who made the most essential distinction between the two sets.
